Looks like I'm coming into town for the final Tom Petty show on the final tour. Gotta pick up Bruery **** too.

What's the go to joint near the Hollywood Bowl?

Anyone wanna party on Monday? Bruery still open for members on Mondays? I should be harvesting my final hops on Saturday (Nugget). Expecting around 3-4 pounds. Dunno if anyone was wanting to do a wet hopped Nugget beer though. . . would IP trade for some local shelfies.

The Surly Goat is only a few miles away. Love that place.

You could also do the Blue Palms. Never been, but heard good things.

Is there anything keeping you near HB in the greatest ride-sharing city in the world? Actually go somewhere great (I.e. not surly goat and especially not blue palms) before and/or after show and spend the $10 to Lyft between places.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider to be the greatest LA beer spot or spots worthy of Lyfting around town? Like, I've only been to LA twice in my life, once as an adult that cares about beer, and I could have just set up a cot outside of The Hermosillo/HPB and spent all of my beer drinking time there. Beer Belly was cool too, but HPB was ******* great.

But I live on the other side of the country, so wtf do I know. I plan to come out again so please feel free to correct me and add suggestions.

What's up with all this hate for Blue Palms?

Just keep in mind that wherever you go, it's going to take awhile to get back to the Bowl because traffic is a nightmare in that area. I know because I live right next to the Bowl and get stuck in said traffic if I don't time things right. So remember that when it comes to timing. If you're coming from somewhere like...downtown it could very well take you 45 minutes to an hour to get back to the Bowl depending on what time you're heading there.

Tabula Rasa's a new beer/wine bar in Los Feliz that's a semi-safe (only due to traffic, which, as mentioned, can be a nightmare on event nights) bet for pre-Bowl drinking.

Hollywood Bowl allows outside food and beverages, so the chill plan would be to stop by a great brewery or bottle shop (HPB fits the bill, but there are much closer places too), and put together a "picnic basket" with a couple-few bottles/growlers and some tasty snacks. Hang with your companion(s) before the show and enjoy the weather. Don't **** with traffic.

HPB may (somehow) have zero buttons cans left too.

Doh. Spoke too soon. Looks like the Tom Petty show is a "Lease Event" that does not follow the same rules and principles as the "house" produced shows. No outside alcohol.

Sorry, beerandraiderfan , you might just be stuck at Surly Goat or Blue Palms, or traversing across town against Hollywood Bowl traffic after your pre-party.

Pretty easy to sneak cans into the lease events. I usually put the cans under my ice blocks. I put food/water on top and they never check that hard.

Sweet, been to both places multiple times, love 'em both.

Traffic. I get pissed when I'm behind two vehicles at our only stop light in the county. Or behind a tractor. You can imagine my potential for outrage in LA traffic. I just wanna not stress, get my fade on, listen to Tom Petty kick out the jams one last night and not feel hurried.

Yeah I see you already covered the Lease Event thing.

Despite the negative comments, I'd just post up at Blue Palms if you don't feel like sneaking things into the Bowl.. It's not the greatest bar but it's closest and they have good food and beer.

How does one become a beer friend?

Mouth skills, but real talk just buy all their beers. Although I don't think they have added anyone in over a year. I heard rumors of it switching to an actual paid membership once the new brewery opens (is the new brewery still a thing?)

Buy a lot of HPB beer.

Yep. Being that HPB is the other side of the world for me, I only ever make it a point to buy what I KNOW I can pick up in their window or things I MUST have (GJG & BA GJG being one of them).

I ain't mad though. Helps keep my wallet in check.
