Possibly. Both could have good spots, they can also be terribly shady. Like shanrath said, I'd shoot for the Silverlake or echo park area.

Also, why would someone get married in the fashion district?

I went to a really nice wedding in the arts district. The venue was a former industrial building that was converted into a events room. Lime truck catered....one of the more fun weddings I've been to the last few years.

I've been to a wedding off 6th near one of the downtown studios that was great too. There're a lot of semi-used spaces that've been converted into event venues as downtown keeps getting developed. For example, the Fashion District's not terribly far from the Verve down on 8th and Spring, nor is it too far from Mikkeller or Modern Times, Clifton's, The Ace, The Varnish, the Alamo Drafthouse that's set to open this year, the Row development that's moving along, etc.

It’s at the unique space. Figured the fashion district was close enough. Not finding a ton of options that far East anyway

That’s where the wedding I went to was! There’s an Invader above it. We had a good time there. It is more in the Arts District proper. For coffee, the newest Go Get Em Tiger’s walkable from there, and ERB’s a great drinks spot nearby, albeit in the opposite direction.

Have people been trying the corn dog collaborations at HPB? There’ve been a few that’ve looked good. I’m curious on the hamburger one.

My wife and I were very happy with the offerings. The food was fantastic. Chilaquiles (red and green) with fried eggs, plu breakfast tacos. There were plenty of open bottles and it wasn't too busy. Really no complaints, I would definitely go again.
I was telling Bob and Ross that they need to do way more than one event like this a year. He said that they planned on doing more smaller versions for the upcoming bottle friends year. This made me happy.

Usually I am not a big fan of HPB hazies but this one really hit the spot.

I'll be visiting family in Huntington Beach towards the end of the month. What's the best town to book a hotel in if you're looking for cool breweries/beer bars (duh), coffee, places to walk around, etc? Highland Park? Monterrey Park? Cheers!

I would vote for Redondo Beach. You have all of the attractions of beach life and fun bars / restaurants. you can also easily access a number of breweries in Torrance. Monkish, Smog City, King Harbod, Yorkshire Square... It's also a short drive to El Segundo and the Hawthorne breweries or Long Beach.

I usually stay in Buena Park, Radisson specifically. You're 10-15 minutes from Bruery, Bottle Logic, Green Cheek, and the dive bar, Cups, is next door, as well as Rock and Brews across the street. Beachwood is about 25 minutes the opposite direction, and a short drive to Torrance from there.

Last week the blue line was shut down at Watts/103rd station. They had a free bus that ran parallel to the line at least to Compton Courthouse. Be sure to check https://www.metro.net before using. Riding the blue line at the end of a work day is a sight to be seen, smelled and felt. Apart from a transient repeatedly screaming at me that I was a blue eyed devil, it's not a terrible way to get between downtown and Long Beach.
