I have brewed a few of extract kits before, mostly Coopers. I did my first all grain an Saturday. Everything went great. It's fermenting along nicely. My question is, when I did the extract kits, it seems that the kraeusen would get huge, usually 4"-5". On this batch of all grain, the kraeusen looks great, but is only about maybe 1" thick. Is this ok, or does it need to go crazy high?:)

Thanks. Trying to learn.

It will be fine, I have some that are crazy and some that aren't. All have come out fine so far.:mug:

What were the gravities of the beers? Bigger beers will give you a bigger kraeusen. And no it doesn't have to get huge.........despite what the ladies say.

Can also do with the type and condition of yeast used, some start out like crazy some not.
