Okay I have a question. I am trying to get very holistic. I am 21 yo male. (Figured I would just include that). Anyways, I see a bunch of articles about Kombucha, some stating its greatness and some saying it's not beneficial at all and can even cause death? I don't know what to make or think of these! I am confused!

I currently just started drinking Kombucha, very few days ago. I want to stick with it, because I do believe after all the junk food and everything horrible I had that my bad bacteria outweighs the good. I am also into the gut and mind connection. I deal with bad anxiety and stress so I am changing everything about my diet, slowly of course. Just wondering if anyone has actually found the Kombucha beneficial to them?

I'm wondering the same thing, so I'm going to follow this thread. Been having some health issues and I'm thinking about trying it also.

I made my own for over a year. Drank it daily and found no magical, unicorn, over the rainbow magical fixes. That being said, it is full of healthy probiotics for gut health. But I am still bald and fart a lot. I did like the taste and found it refreshing.

Not sure that anyone can convincingly argue that Kombucha has effective health benefits. A) anyone who takes the time to make the beverage and look after it will have the bias of wanting to see their effort have some payoff and B) we know the placebo effect can make people feel better (and indeed improve health) although the placebo itself has no basis for the effect it seems to have had... So..
The only really effective way to determine whether Kombucha (or indeed ANY thing in fact has some real health benefit is to undertake a double blind randomized test - where neither the experimenter nor the subjects know whether they are taking the Kombucha or a placebo and where the experimenter has determined IN ADVANCE what will count as a countable effect/benefit... and then compare those who experienced countable improvements with those who experienced either no countable improvements and /or countable other effects (illness bouts?) and then check to see who received the Kombucha and who the placebo and so whether the countable events can be attributed to the Kombucha or to the placebo...

Very true, I am going to go through and see how it makes me feel. It is probiotics and anti-oxidants. So it can't be bad. Only could be beneficial actually

Anyways, I am studying biochemistry...one thing I can do later on in life, is possibly conduct a little study.

I've been making my own kombucha and drinking a 16oz bottle a day for well over a year now. I'ven't got dead yet. I think I might even be a highlander now.

There's a wealth of health benefits associated with tea, you add probiotics (which are presumed to be beneficial), and you can probably assume that it's a "healthy" drink. No one will ever be able to PROVE it though bc no one will pay for a clinical trial.

I am not a health nut, nor do I profess to be one, so this is my read on the benefits of kombucha:

EVERY year in the spring I would come down with a case of bronchitis. My guess it is likely a result of airborne allergens, pollens, molds, mildew and such. End result is a respiratory infection that requires antibiotics and several weeks of recovery time. I almost never got sick during the year, but I could set my calendar and expect a springtime illness.

My mom discovered kombucha and began using it. I was skeptical and figured this was yet another "hocus pocus" magic elixir. None the less I started brewing and drinking kombucha in the winter about 10 years ago.

To cut to the chase, I haven't had bronchitis since! I have a good friend who has the exact issue and I told him about kombucha. He is skeptical of course, but I have given him a baby shroom culture with instructions.

Some may argue this is mind over matter. Great, I hope it is, because life without the fear of respiratory infection is wonderful! I believe!!

Enjoy.
