King size brain fart

Today, we brewed an English Pale Ale and a Belgian White Ale. The central Texas weather was prefect and everything was proceeding well. We nailed the OG on the EPA and Belgian Wit was .007 over. We had the Belgian White all buttoned up in the fermenter and I was ready to pitch the yeast in the EPA when we noticed the yeast was for the Belgian Wit (WLP400).

I had mistakenly pitched the EPA yeast (WLP005) in the Belgian!

I went ahead and pitched the WLP400 in the EPA. So we have two limited edition brews, an English Wit Ale and a Belgian Pale Ale. I am curious how they will turn out.

I'd be looking forward to that Belgian Pale - ever tried a "Belgian IPA?" Good stuff - might be the best mistake you ever made!

I live in Round Rock.

We brewed these for a March 31st project milestone at work. At the kick off celebration we had English Pale Ale (with the correct yeast) and Nut Brown Ale both from AHS; everyone liked both beers and we had about a gallon of the NBA left and about 1/2 gallon of the EPA. We will keep the secret until everyone has had a few pints.

I have great faith in the beer fairy. My last brew was an AHS London Porter. I drank some of the hydrometer sample and thought it might be my first batch to dump; it had a really grain taste and a stringent aftertaste but I thought I would give it a chance to redeem itself. During the 10 days in primary and 2 weeks in secondary, the beer fairy paid my beer fridge a visit and cleaned up the brew very nicely. I have a new favorite homebrew and it even converted my assistant brewer to the dark side.

I bet they'll both be good.. The English wit I'm not sure about, maybe it'll be like an english cream ale.

Same experience for me - that London Porter is nasty in a sample, but UNBEATABLE with a little time. Well worth the wait. I love it.

I had a similar experience! I brewed a stout yesterday, and then last night I opened the freezer and saw a bag that said "Stout Hops" on it. I thought to myself "What'd I just put in that stout?!?" Turns out I bought hops twice

Anyways, good luck with your experiment! It'll still be beer in the end.
