ketchup on a hot dog, mustard on a hamburger, mayo on fries?

Of course everyone’s tastes are subjective. Isn’t this the point of the post?
Just stating my preference.
I’ll certainly provide ketchup as a condiment when I have guests.
I went to a Taco Bell with a guy from New Jersey. He ordered tacos, they asked him if he wanted sauce. He asked if they had ketchup. We had a good laugh.

We have to keep both yellow and brown mustard and Mayo and Miracle whip on hand for some reason.

Can confirm. I've spent months over the years, cumulative, trout bumming my way through BC and parts of Alberta and it's only ever been malt or ketchup. To my disappointment, gravy was never an option. I was actively looking for the gravy and they didn't have any.

They did have Player's Navy Cut, though.
....I miss real cigarettes. :(

They're not the only ones to eat fries with mayo, Belgium and France for two more. We're not talking Hellman's or, heaven forbid, Miracle Whip.
I've traveled quite extensively through France, Belgium and Canada. While I can attest to the veracity of 'mayo on fries' in the first two, I'm having difficulty remembering the latter. As to poutine, "Yes, please."

But the best condiment + beer has to be spicy senf mustard on a brat and hard roll, altbier in hand, walking by the Rhine in Dusseldorf. Fries not included, nor needed.

I don't mind ketchup on a hot dog, but I prefer relish or no condiments. I only use mustard on a burger if there is also ketchup. Can't do only mustard!

Ok. My point here was less about Canada eating fries with mayo than it was the fact that plenty of people do. And it's clearly not objectively disgusting. If you don't like it, get off it. Let me eat my frites in peace.

They put way too much tarter sauce on the Mc fish sandwich, which I scrape off with the fries, freeken really good. Raw onions under my dog and lettuce, pickles ,onion and tomato on my burger. Mustard and ketchup bottles last over a year here. Just tossed out a 2 yr old jar of mayo.

Yeah one is good, the other is mayo.

I like both but they are not universal substitues for each other.

Mayo, for example, is nice super easy to spread sub for butter when making a sandwich like grilled cheese, Reuben, patty melt, etc. Nice and crispy outside.

Try that with Miracle Whip and you'll have a soggy mess.

OTOH, something I grew up with was peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwich. Yeah, yeah... I've heard it all. But, I like it. Make that with mayo instead... arghhh, yuck. LOL.

Someone suggested peanut butter and pickle sandwich. I liked it.

From Central Pennsylvania the ONLY thing on a hot dog is Sauerkraut {some good home made of course} with just a little yellow mustard and raw onions. While in the NAVY I dated a girl from southern Washington State. She would mix ketchup and mayo and dip her fries in that. Not a bad mix but ketchup on fires was all I ever knew.

Getting sidetracked but my preference for dipping fries is a mixture of blue cheese dressing (I like Marie’s), and buffalo wing sauce.

*edit: it actually tastes good on a burger as well.

Not really a fan of hot dogs, but coneys aka Hoffman Snappy Grillers, hell yes! The only thing to ever put on them is brown mustard like Gulden's or similar. Unless your the wife who puts ketchup on them which is just blasphemous IMHO.

And no, entire state of Michigan, what you make or serve are just hot dogs, not coneys. Just stop it.

Ketchup or barbecue sauce on a burger is totally fine, mustard is up to you. Ketchup on a hot dog, yeah um, just no...

Those look like they would go great with some freshly mixed-up Keens! I was lamenting a couple years ago when Keens shrunk their availalable size; (from left to right) and didn't change the price..

(Yes I have a couple old Keens tins I use as Webster Pots [Thank you Stephen King for that term!])
In frustration I decided on a whim to look on amazon and POOF! ..2 days later I got this:

Goes great on everything, especially corned-beef, pastrami, Montreal Smoked Meat, any sausage or mixed with honey on a Ham & Swiss on Rye.
🌭

Gulden’s is good (we always seem to have some in the fridge) but Sir Kensington English style spicy mustard or Ingelhoffer’s German style stone ground mustard are my favorites. There’s also a Dusseldorf mustard I always used to get in grocery stores in Northern Germany that I have found occasionally in U.S. supermarkets that is excellent on brats.

Dog: Ketchup, Mustard, Sauerkraut, Onions, Chili
Burger: Cheese, Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Pickles

Everything on everything is good too.
