A long time if the water is not hard. Some folks use RO water. I use soft (water softener) water & it lasts a long time (6+ months). YMMV
so i can keg sanitizer "starsan" in a water solution for approx 6 months depending on my water and it still be effective?

That's right, and if mixed properly it won't corrode stainless steel either. Make sure to get some PH strips so you can check its viability. PH should be below 3.5 to be effective.

Use distilled water with starsan and it will, for certain, last for a very long time, (months).

It won't corrode SS. (unless you do some fool thing like mix it at 5x recommended concentration).
