Im a dope - Kegerator vs Keezer

Still relatively new to the forums and I have been reading extensively but wanted to get your guys take on the advantages/disadvantages of modding a refrigerator vs a chest freezer.

I have a full built in bar and want my tap placed front and center on it which will mean running about 10'-12' of lines to the room behind the bar where said future keerator/kegerator will sit - so I will obviously need to chill the lines and I think I'm going to go the route of a cheap glycol system (reserve in the freezer/fridge with pond pump). I have a 2x tap tower and figure I will probably want to rock a reg 1/2 keg and a corny of home brew at any time.

You guys are the experts so what say you between fridge or freezer?

I think the benefit of a keezer (freezer) is being able to make it more presentable than a stand up refrigerator, but since you're hiding it in another room, it's a non-issue it seems. I'd say go for whatever you can get a better deal on. They're both operate the same. With a chest freezer, you'll need to factor in the price of a temperature controller to bypass the factory thermostat.

Why not just modify the bar so that the keezer fits underneath. That way you don't need to run/chill the lines from the other room. Or, instead of a keezer, you could get a large dorm fridge that could fit under the bar. Just a suggestion...

unfortunately the bar isn't very deep so putting a dorm fridge under it would only allow for about 1/2-2/3 to be within the bar and it would really inhibit the room behind the bar - plus I'd rather have 2 keg capabilities - one domestic/one homebrew - on tap at a time

the bar is also all peckie cypress so matching the wood would be virtually impossible on any build outs
