So the welding supply shop I usually go to for refills is only open 8-4:30 MF and 8-12 Sa. My tank has been runnin on fumes for the past couple days and I need to carb up a couple kegs asap. Anyways, so I show up at 8am, (before work), on the dot at the place and everyone is super busy loading up trucks to daily deliveries. As I walk in one of the truck drivers says, ahh... a beer bottle eh! I just smile and chuckle a little. I walk up to the dock and put the tank up there. A minute later one of the guys comes out asks what I need. I tell him, CO2, then he looks at the tank and says... "its a little early to be fillin up beer tanks isnt it??!?" HAHAHAHAH!! :rockin: Simple things like that just crack me up...

I don't go into my CO2 supplier enough for them to remember me, so every time they're always like "what's this for a beer machine?"...

I just found a place about 50 miles away (where I live everything is about 50 miles away) but I think they'll remember me. They've already asked me what I'm brewing and how many taps I have. I think it was a hint to bring brew the next time, so I will!

He filled it right away for $6. (It's only a 5# tank). He also was very nice, and smiling alot. I think he must like beer.

$6?!? I paid $17 up from $12 the last time!

The beauty of having a 20lb tank is that I only filled this thing once, the first time, about a year ago. I don't know if prices have gone up or not, but I paid $20 even. Reliable Carbonic in New Brunswick.

$17.99CAD to exchange my 5lbs tank. Nobody in town does refills for some reason. It only bothered me the first time though. When I bought the tank it was a nice shiny new one - my exchanged tank was a pretty ugly looking beast. :D

Well, yes. The first shop I went to charged me $17 too, and I had to wait like three weeks for them to send it out and get it back. It's my own tank, brand new.

This shop was very nice and clean, and very accomodating. Like I said, they were guys, probably in their mid-30s or so, smiling and happy to accomodate me. One especially was very nice, and asking me all kinds of friendly questions about where I live, my hobbies, etc. I do think they must be beer lovers!

No idea what they'll charge me---my kegging equip is probably still somewhere in Texas---but there's a welding supply joint next door to my office. That should make it easy...

The welding shop I use is good and it takes them just a few minutes to refill. They chill the bottle all down, dump it then do a complete fill cycle on it. I got one short fill (mostly gas) the second time I ever refilled the bottle so I went back and told them it was for beer, It needed to be a FAT liquid fill. They take care of me now. Cost $13 for a 5lb.

You just jinxed yourself. You're gonna go home to an empty tank tonight. :D

I have two 20's and the first one is over a year old, second is about 6 months old. They seem to be bottomless pits...

DOH ! ! ! Just jinxed myself too.

Apparently I run through 10# a year... seeing as though I started kegging around a year ago and this is my 3rd refill. Heck.. 40#... you would need to get your tanks recerted every time you refilled! HAHAH!

I just got my 20#er filled (for the first time in a couple of years).. I thought it was a bit steep.... $60! plus $18 to test it since the last testing stamp was about 15 years old.

The guy at the welding shop I use knows I'm a homebrewer and I used to square dance. He tries to get me to come to dances, because "we need some younger folks." I'm 56.
