Or maybe this one...

Oh man i cannot WAIT for the day this happens to me!! I swear i will have so many illegal looking things by that time. Maybe hang a few fake distillery and whiskey signs around and purposely run copper tubing around the place into something looking like a still, but maybe in actuality is a water fountain or something.

Seriously HBT readers...why wouldn't you purposely mess with your neighbors if they're that stupid?

because those same idiots will all the cops before they actually approach you about something.

The other day a couple religious guys knocked on my door. I invited them in, gave them coffee, sat down and asked "So, what did you want to tell me about?"

They said "Hell if we know... we never got this far before!"

Nyuk nyuk nyuk

I used to slap one of these two on all my stuff. I had access to a ton of them while I was a hazardous waste technician.

I don't know about your state, but my state looks down on sodomizing of-age children as well....in fact, I don't think you can sodomize anyone unless they ask you to. :ban:

in my state you can't do it even if the other person (people) does (do) ask you too! but then again i doubt they would know unless you did it outside.:D

I tend to agree with the others. I had nosy neighbors as well, so I just invited them over for a beer. Let them see, taste, and smell the grains and hops, and then show them a catalog that you order stuff from. I find the catalog (like Northern Brewer's) goes a long way because it is professional, shows clearly what is available to everyone interested, and it places wine right alongside beer.

Once people realize that you are basically going through the same process as wine making, for some reason, they get more comfortable with the whole deal.

what's wrong with making moonshine...:cross:

besides, it's better than being accused of making meth. I've heard an account of this and the cops were called to a brewer's house, only to find some good ole homebrew boiling away in the garage!

Thankfully all of my neighbors mind their own business. I've briefly talked to the neighbors on either side of me, but for the most part they let me do my thing and I let them do theirs.

My brother and nephew were over for a brew day once and my neighbor heard me say something about irish moss. He promptly came over and asked who's brewing beer? Turns out he's a homebrewer as well and gave me a nice sample six pack of his homebrew.:mug:

Awesome.

Is there anything Umbrella corporation doesn't have their hand in? lol That's cool to find out you have a fellow home brewer next door!

A simple "Nope, just brewing some beer." will probably suffice. Unnecessarily poking the bear in this case, no matter how well deserved, may have unforeseen consequences. I agree with the previous post that neutral-to-better relations with neighbors are the important consideration here, if possible. It's becoming more and more strained in this society, but "live and let live" is a good principle to follow. If somebody doesn't, a minimally adequate response is probably best.

man, i can't count the number of times some numbskull has suggested homebrew could blind a guy...

LOL,
the weirdest comment I've heard yet is that "making beer is doing the work of the devil"...:drunk:

I like to let myself be seen unloading this from the car...

I like to open my Hop orders with every new UPS driver, I've also answered the front door once with lbs of hops in clear vacum bags. The lady took a few steps back but never asked nor did I explain just what the green stuff was in bags:p

I once had a tech come out to replace the icemaker in my freezer. While he was working on it , I noticed he kept staring at the shelves on the freezer door. Finally it dawned on me, he was looking at the 2 or 3 lbs of hops wrapped in plastic wrap. I tried to explain" that's really not what you think it is" I said, he just shook his head and said" no need to explain sir, what you keep in your freezer is your business"...it didn't get really awkward, though, til I tried to pay him in fives...
