Made a lager with WL820. I messed up my starter and ended up with only a liter. Went into carboy & fridge last night. I'm tempted to run to brew shop today and pick up another vial of WL820 and dump it in.. Would that have any impact or is it basically pointless unless I made another starter with the new vial first?

It's just that $16+ on yeast for 5 gallons is painful.

Well, sure that would help- you'd be adding another 80-100 billion cells to the wort. If you could (gulp) buy two more packages, that would be better but you'd be spending over $25 or so just for yeast. Ouch.

The good news is that if this batch is pitched closer to optimum cell rates, you could save the yeast after primary and use it in other batches and avoid buying yeast for the next few lager batches.
