What should bracc do?

so i was pouring some oat malt beer onto of 4oz's of cider still in my glass...tasted a little pleasent...so i decided to mix a 50/50 glass of cider, oat beer....and now i'm thinking it just needs some residule sweetness....so my plan for the future...

Mix a cider batch 50/50, with a oatmalt batch with like just 2oz's crystal 60L, and with some cocoa powder in the boil.......hmmm, might be tasty, do you think i'm nuts or a genious/stupid?

(i can tell the wind is blowing from all the red squigily lines though!)

Guilty of lewd and mischievous behavior!

you know, i feel like the little boy that cried wolf....this is a serious question....i was about to do a partial mash with some pale malt and 60L, in a 3 quart sauce pan to see if it was fessible....but i realized i don't have a way to strain the grains out.....would a colander work? hmm, the night is young....i got a medium sized hop bag, maybe for a 8oz 60L, 1oz pale brew it would work....

(damn now you got laughing at myself, and giving me a good idea too....thinking about whipping out my grain mill to mill 8oz of 60L...i wonder if i just clean it first and collect the dust i'd even need to open a bag of the pale! :mug:

Just read the title and wanted to whip out a reply before someone actually helpful came along. Glad I could help the creative juices flowing. A mesh colander would work but would still allow a fair amount of sediment through. Still, should work. I bought a BIAB bag for such reasons..that and my wife was getting pissed when I didnt get all of the hop residue out of our fancy mesh colander. I thought hop flavored rice was a cool idea.

damn right i did that for a while back in 2015 or so...20lb bag was like $8 bucks at wal-mart i was like f-it...used some amylase enzyme, wait where is this posted..well anyway i had a stuck fermentation, that didn't work that way in other areas....

learned about gluco....and ended up being to pull off a 7.5% 10 gallon batch from $8 dollar bag of rice....dry hopped! but none of the garden stores here sell 50lb bales of rice hulls, so had to give it up :(

anyway someone else was complaining didn't report back on stuff like this...i didn't do the partial mash tonight, because my medium hops bag is still in with the clothes, and i need to fish it out. but for the rest of the night i'm going to experiment with different blends of oat malt beer, and cider....

after the 50/50 and 12oz/4oz...i'm thinking more oat beer....has more body to it, but the cider is secondary...

Probably a stupid suggestion, but honey malt sounds like it would compliment the cider nicely. Maybe with some oats to add more body. Carapils even?

I’m out of my depth with this. My last batch of cider was drain pour. I just didnt want to do that to the sewage treatment plant. Look forward to hearing some outcomes.

unfortanatly with my gluco addiction, oats don't as much body as barley....this is seriously a project, but maybe i'll pick up a 5lb bag of honey malt next time ordering....i do like cyser, and the idea of honey oat meal, with apple slices sounds nice.....maybe a bit of brown sugar (carmel 60L)

brewhaus_com, costs me about $27 for a lb to my door.....lasts me about a year, 10 gallon batches every week.....
