Hi all,

I just recently purchased a JC A28AA-36 Two-Stage Thermostat and am having trouble getting started. I've seen tutorials on how to wire the Ranco Two-Stages but they don't seem very similar.

Here are the links to a picture of the the Manual and the actual device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It turns out I was completely overcomplicating it. If anyone ever needs help with one of these, let me know.

I'm setting up the same, and one question I have is where does the neutral wire go? The diagrams show the hot and ground for the power source, heating and cooling, but won't those sources have orphaned neutral (white) wires?

Thanks for any help.

(note that I've only wired the Hi-Stage in this picture)

The Neutral doesn't have to be cut, but I did in my build of it; you're using the neutral only to complete the circuit. Ground can also be left intact, but I split mine and grounded the circuit both to the chassis and back to the outlet (after I took the picture above). The controller only opens and closes the hot lead, so that's really the only one you have to wire up to it to get it to work. Leave the blue lead on the controller empty.

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions :mug:

If you'd like more detailed pictures, just let me know.

Cheers

A ha, got it... this is my first attempt at wiring anything, I appreciate the help.

You said to leave the blue lead on the controller empty, but I'm wiring a heating unit and a cooling unit to this controller... I assume yours is just wired to a cooling system?

Thanks!

Stuart

The heating goes on the right side or Lo Stage switch with the same wiring configuration. There should never be any wires connected to blue b/c that's the switch's off position; voltage from your hot lead is routed to blue when the thermostat reaches desired temperature and power is cut from the circuit (red to yellow becomes red to blue).
