Grabbed 2 bottles of each and the glassware. About 20 mins in line... the actual taproom line was actually longer than the bottle line....

Hit the road... will actually try the beers tomorrow.

Never seen so many cars in the lot on a Friday night, so if you're going tomorrow for bottles, I'd suggest getting there early.

IMO
Union- so so on tap, for me the herbal bitterness was a bit rough around the edges. Hopefully a few more months in the bottle will help it develop.

Twin- pretty damn tasty on tap.

One last reminder - I'll be in San Antonio and Austin next weekend - would love to meet up an do an IP trade for some 500 ml JK fruited sours (pretty much anything they've released). If you're looking for Midwest stouts (BCBS, BCBS Coffee, BB Pt5, BourbRum Pt5, Black Note, Kuhnhenn Beers) and some random sours (Jackie O's), lets work a trade out.

I agree with all the sentiments here. WW Twin was very tasty...very tart with blueberry taste, which was good because I'm not a coffee drinker. The rosemary was a little overpowering on Natural Union but hopefully it will develop in the bottle nicely. At the very least, it has great label art. A chilly night but still fun with lots of stars, and the garlic knots and JK beers kept me warm.

Agreed with the others, WW Twin is very good while Natural Union was ok.

And yes, if you were waiting until today to grab these, you better get there early.

If anyone ends up with an extra WWT let me know. I'd love to try a botthe but can't make it from Houston this weekend. Got plenty of stuff to make it worth your time.

Girlfriends and grandmas were working hard today.

Got there at 11:15, thinking we'd be near front of the line. At least 50+ people already in line in front of us.

Took this pic from the parking lot, after putting my bottles in the car. Never seen a line this long at JK other than at the first Funk & Sour

I think it was a combo of the nice weather and new releases. I went down to Easy Tiger with my wife afterwards and I haven't seen so many people in Downtown Austin since I braved the last Pecan Street festival.

I went through the taproom line twice and at that point it was a 30 min or so wait to get in again (with equally long line, it seemed, at Stanley's bar), so I booked.

"Where's Hipster?"

"Oh look. There's one. And another. And another. And another!"

I hate to speak badly about my favorite brewery in Texas, but I didn't have a good experience at Jester King on Saturday. Arrived at 2pm, waited in line to get the special release bottles, then waited in line to get pours of beer. It was 3:46pm by the time I finally had a beer in my hands. The line to the taproom was down the steps leading up the brewery grounds the whole time I was there. It was crazy how crowded it was this weekend.

It's not their fault that a lot of people showed up, though! I always see ****** reviews of restaurants on, say, Yelp (ugh) where people are complaining about long waits. There is nothing that places can do about that. If a place is too small to accommodate a lot of people, they can't magically get bigger.

I got there at noon, and there were easily 120 people in front of me. Grabbed a Live Oak Hefe from Stanley's and talked to the people in line around me. Took 90 minutes to get bottles an probably another 25 to get some pours. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I'm an avid people watcher.

For sure. There are things places can do to keep people happy while waiting (or failing to wait I guess) though.

JK really needs to do something about their damn driveway... it's getting so bumpy it's becoming ridiculous. They've literally done zero improvements since they've opened.

I know they wanna be "rustic", but damn, put down some rocks/gravel or something if you don't wanna pave it.

/rant.

Couldn't agree more. It makes every trip out there significantly shittier. I bitched about it on BA a while back and Jeff said it was "on their list," but that was several months ago.

We got there at 11:15, and like I said, there was already a line. Since there were 3-4 in our group, we took turns going to Stanley's to get beers for everyone, hitting up the taproom for more beers while others were still waiting in line, and buying our glassware while also still waiting in line. So by the time I bought my bottles I'd already had 4 beers and bought my glassware. :)

You really can't blame a business for being popular, but you can plan more intelligently and make the best of it.

Or you can not go, if it's all too much.

No one ever says "Damn, that Aaron Franklin is not running his business very well, because every time I go there there's a long line I have to wait in."

Caliche holds up pretty good, but it will leave a nice white dust on the foliage

I've seen a lot of bad Yelp reviews due to the line. Ahahaha **** yelp. I live in Portland where there are no lines. The only line I've encountered so far was about 50 people at Upright Fantasia and it took me literally 10 minutes to get to the front of it.
