Bottle opened with a nice pop. Solid carbonation for a 16 year old beer.
All Dark fruit and leather. A touch of oxidation on the finish but still excellent. Props HotD.

damn i had no clue cycle had a ba barleywine, sounds like it’s worth checking out!![]()
Absolutely wonderful. Tastes like toasted pecans, caramel, leather and slight cocoa dust bitterness. The honey provides sweetness, but it's never cloying. It is THICC.
ha, i had a similar expirience, i’m really excited about my second bottle nowDefinitely a sleeper and quality bottle of life.
I did expect a little more though based on the hype it's received. Carb is not HotD level but it is low. Picture was after a powzy Angry Pour (tm). I also tend to like a little more fresh whiskey flavor in my BABWs. This reminds me of an aged King Henry, where the booze has mellowed but that brown sugar goodness kicks you in the face. On the nose and taste the 14.3% abv seems like a joke, but I'm definitely on beer right now.
Yeah this beer is awesome. Crushed it on a night of heavy BA barleywine drinking and it stood out the most. Definitely need to pick more up.![]()

but not too bad.
That's some Jeremy speak for......"Well.....I didn't go blind."
Anyone ever have this one? It's really pretty good for its age. A little slick/thin and some cardboard, but not too bad.

That's a very interesting tick. Gold Label itself is utterly hideous and puts most casual drinkers in the UK off the idea of ever drinking barley wine again but would certainly like to try this myself.
I dark an old barleywine. It was nice. Leather and tobacco for days, mild soy creeping in. No cardboard oxidation to speak of yet. Some sherry notes as well. Ages with the best of them.
A touch under carbed but there are so many layers to this beer. Decadent stuff.
****. I have a 2014 and this does not sound promising.Mash Batch 1 .
Total *******. Wasn't great fresh. But not bad. Man.
