Rev VSOJ is as good as any barleywine I've had. Right there with well aged King Henry and current 2013 BCBBW. Thicker than something like K13. Tried bottlesharing with dinner afterward and it was a lost cause. Everything paled in comparison. Huge coconut/oak and caramel/bourbon flavor. Really viscous and fairly sweet. Dense brown sugar. Nice way to spend National Bourbon Day.

The Masonry here in Seattle pulled out a couple bottles of b1 A Deal with the Devil for their Anchorage event last night. I'd last had it in March of 2014 at Brouwer's. After my first 3oz pour I really wanted another, but I had limited time (and a sizable pour of Time Waits for No One to work through).
Agreed. Only had it once but remember not liking it very much.Anyone else find this extremely disappointing? It would be good for $10, but for 25, I'm not seeing it...
x-posted from hauls thread. 1962 Whitbread Queen's Ale.
Curious to see how this has held up over 55-ish years.
I agree! This bad boy is something special. Probably the most cognac on the nose of any beer I've ever had, but what a beer. I wouldn't sit on this one, it's ready to go.![]()
We're ******.......
Already have the day off requested, Sounds like Alaska will be a good vacation for me this year![]()
So close to doing the same. Wish I knew more details about the release.I already booked my flights and hotel. I wish I was kidding about this, I am the wurst.
Alaska just might be out of reach for 99% of Shitlords. Me hopesWith 340 box sets, what's the over/under on the number of people that buy a plane ticket, hotel room, etc., with the primary intent of acquiring this beer, and subsequently get shut out from said beer release? No ex post facto justification for traveling to Anchorage in October. Parlay it with the number of shitlords who then proceed to blast Anchorage on The Book Face or other social medium upon being shut out.
Me too. I just want one to enjoy. The trip will be worth it whether or not I get the beer, though I would like to get some,Alaska just might be out of reach for 99% of Shitlords. Me hopes

The older they get, the more the sweetness dies.... 4 years on one and they become amazing amazing amazingADWTD is good but its pretty sweet since its such a high abv...Anchorage knows their **** so i'm sure these new bottles will be solid. At the same time i wouldn't bend over backwards for any of them....i'm sure you can find another Barleywine on par with those that wont cost you your left nut.

I can't imagine anyone that's willing to fly up and pony up for lodging getting shut out. If you're willing to go to that trouble, lining up 24 hours early (or as soon as is allowed) shouldn't be an issue.
