I think you underestimate the number of neckbeards that think they would (should?) be entitled to this beer just because they bought a plane ticket and a hotel room. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that 500 fanboys shelled out upwards of $1000 in travel costs to get one of these boxed sets. One can only hope that it's a well-organized, ticketed released, and the tickets are done well in advance.

You'd be correct. In 2014 notorious **** lords here in Chicago drove 15 hours overnight to Westbrook when they announced the BA Cakes were going on sale the next day. I wish I was I kidding, but people actually do this ****.

Yeah, but that's just calling in sick to your job at Arbys, this release is buying a $500 flight and $xxx hotel. And probably calling in sick for several days to your job at Arbys.

I can't imagine anyone that's willing to fly up and pony up for lodging getting shut out. If you're willing to go to that trouble, lining up 24 hours early (or as soon as is allowed) shouldn't be an issue.

The way I look at it, the more time you spend sitting in line, the more time your are exposing yourself to bear attack.

I travel to Louisville about once a month...last three months this has been on the shelf at ******* Liquor Barn. A BA BW on the shelf.

BEST.

HOTEL BEER.

EVER.

(greg4579 - I think I dropped you one of these in that last box...thoughts?)

Yes you did. I drank it a while back and to be honest I do not quite remember it that much which tells me it was good enough but not great. It also tells me it wasn't bad enough to be memorable either! I am always in father or barleywines in pounder cans though!

Had both variants twice now. First time was pre-release and they were pretty hot, but they've mellowed out quite a bit as of Wednesday. However, this means that the regular variant is very sweet and intense these days, even without the heat. I think it could still use more time unless that kind of Bruery-level serum glucose level attack is what you're after. Tons of potential on that one in the future.

The peated variant, however, is the truth right now. The smoke cuts the perception of sweetness and is in a perfect balance, despite being heavy on the nose, which is impressive as I feel like smoke is easy to **** up. If that's the one you have, do yourself a favor and drink the whole thing alone right now.

Barleywines eh? Omega Point is drinking better than any BW I've had except blendy 1 in its prime right now, and has well surpassed blendy 1 today. Five malt stars. Did not think it would get this good in the bottle.

Had been holding onto this bottle (1902 King's Ale, pint bottle) for a few years (what's a few more years after 100+?). Finally got around to opening it this weekend. Sorry for bad pic quality.

Sherry-like but without much sweetness, heavily oxidized (obviously), a little bit of a twang, but not excessive. Not "good", but decent enough that I drank six ounces or so. Honestly can't believe how decent it was considering the age and unknown 100+ years of storage conditions.

I want another bottle.

Crosspost from the vinyl thread.

Really nice BA bee dub from a brewery finally dialing in...

And the clash are ******* good also.

Not to spoil the surprise, but Drmoonman, you may or may not be receiving, in short order, the other bottle of this that I lucked into.
