So my ******* thought it would be smart to post this to the cesspool that is BiL. Anyway, this is a local brewery to wuntrikpony caaam and myself that is doing some amazing things in the hop and saison game. They didn’t not hit the mark on this one. It’s a bit thin, lacking in barrel character, and drinks more like a brown ale than a barleywine. It’s only 10.5% which helps explain some of it, but I had much higher hopes for this one. They will certainly improve on this one.

Between what they get out of their barrel program so far (e.g. the Burrow cans from anniversary time), and the fact that there was "a lot" of fresh American barleywine with a pretty high hop rate, I wasn't planning on getting excited about it short term.

To be fair, BiL is no longer in the cesspool category and has advanced to septic. Before long it could be connected to municipal sewer.

Glad I peaced out loooong ago. Soon as that "Body" guy got piled on so badly. That was the big turning point. It somehow granted permission for folks to be just terrible.

I was just posting something like what I did here and started getting piled on for the rating I gave it and not being descriptive enough about the flavor profiles. Amazing that I didn't expect more from a group that memes all day long.

Its a crying shame Troegs isnt capable of making this level of awesome brew anymore. To the best of my knowledge they dont do anything “barrel aged” anymore, instead they send it off to age in raw/virgin oak foeders that make the beer taste like wood shavings were added to it instead of that awesome nuance that only comes from freshly emptied spirit barrels. Oh well....
