Front and side? Those are usually poisonous, right?

I added some chile peppers in the secondary. Is this normal?

Duuuude. That is sooo normal, like, that glow at the bottom, that’s, like, the remains of the Big Bang, and that other stuff is, like, that primordial ooze jazz that we crawled out of into that black void that we, like, exist in, and, like, we have to, you know, create our way out of. Sooo normal, man.

i was going to try and find a humorous way to ask this, but i've been losing about 3/10th's of an ounce of co2 out of my tank the last couple days.....

found this, is this normal?

https://www.homebrewfinds.com/2014/09/kegging-co2-use-estimations-and-calculations.html

not sure if i have a leak, never been able to measure so presciently(i have never seen this word before, but spell check says it's what i want? lol)......

i tried to find a funny pic....but i think i'm just going to pull all the QD's and lube them with vasoline, see if the problem persists, nice to hijack a thread again! :D

well i did find something funny at least, instead of my possible 3/10th's leak....

and REALLY is the double hand really normal? lol

"precisely"

So, either a leak, or you have a keg not quite at equilibrium...

Cheers! (And no, I'm not clicking on that :p)

but you stick your tongue out at it....lol

(i just got the scale and these are the first 4 kegs i've carbed and pushed....never had the ability to check by the half ounce on the tank before)

This is a bottle of my latest batch of larger beer.

i see, you're over carbing......

reminds me of when i was a kid burrying 2 liter bottles with alumminum foil and muriatic acid in the dirt.....they blew up like crazy! (is that normal? :))

It stands to reason that as your solution reaches equilibrium, that gas would very slowly be absorbed. This would continue at an extremely slow rate until the gas going into solution was undetectable by your measuring equipment. Of course there also could be small temperature changes or other variables that one might not think of.

paging @doug293cz , who has done the pressure, tank fullness graph somewhere that I'm too lazy to find...
Wasn't me who did that. But here's the chart:

co2pv.gif

What this chart tells you is that the pressure in the tank is independent of amount of CO2 in the tank, as long as there is liquid CO2 present. Once you are out of liquid, the pressure will start to drop, but by that time you have very little CO2 left. The only reliable way to track CO2 usage is to weigh the tank, as @bracconiere is doing.

Brew on :mug:

i will say it's awesome i have the tank on a digital scale acurate to the half ounce though, i just purged two kegs and could watch the weight go down in the keg while i did it....don't have to ask if it's normal, i know it was a leak, lost about oz and a half to it.....

and if i'm beating this to death it's because i'm excited, about it! ;)

edit: tracking how many grams of co2 is more fun than lodo to me!! :D

trying to make sake...i know my camera sucks, but is this normal? (to get back on topic)

what does a decent digital camera cost these days? pic doesn't do the mason jar justice....

You should upgrade to bottling. It's a lot less hassle, and cheaper.

i'm happier with my scale and 20lb tank......if i bottled i'd have to worry about priming sugar, stratification, and stuff like that....with kegs, and my new found joy of a digital scale that stays on i'll be able to figure how many GRAMS it takes to carb and push a keg! and if i get a leaky post vasoline won't fix i know when i need new o-rings for them!

(plus bottling, i'd lose to much to sediment, need a 12oz pour....)

edit: and https://www.usplastic.com/catalog/i...SjpO71mDLsRo2HEkMv0-kic3eI-q_ngAaAu08EALw_wcB

would cost me $72 for my typical 10 gallon batch....the scale was only $27....and i assure you more fun then bottling!!!! i look forward to checking the digital display every morning to see how it's changed......

(is this normal? i get joy from seeing how much my co2 tank weighs?)

So, what scale did you buy that doesn't have auto-shutoff? I need one.

Brew on :mug:

i got the link from someone who weighs their kegs....i'll have to find it again....

here it is, as long as it's plugged in and not on batteries, it's stayed on for me for two weeks or so.....and still accurate to the closest 0.1oz... (edit: i'd say actually 0.2oz, but pretty good for a 110lb max)

For a little quicker action, put a chunk of dry ice in a 2 liter plastic bottle, followed by an eyedropper of water. Cap quickly, and throw quickly!

i had more fun with the heat and expansion.....

edit#3: for explosions i played with co2 cylinders and gun powder, cannon fuse....

edit: and i don't even remember the thread title, but had to double check it was drunken rambling!!!

anything drunk and rambling counts here! ;)

edit #2: is this normal to not give a f? :)

is this normal? so stump remover, fungicide, and smoker remnants will make something that burns really fast.....

edit: kinda like brew science and water chemistry...

^^^That is what I use to make when a kid. Add sugar for effective smoke screen. Used to test batches in open top cans for safety, but got in trouble for catching asphalt driveway on fire & holes in driveway. I'm pretty sure that is normal though.

I buy it pre-mixed, corned, and screened. But for the end of the world I'm told that charcoal, sulpher from a volcano, and dried urine will work.

i don't hang around the cheese forum, but is this normal for cheddar? looks like brie to me....

is it a pelicle? lol
