IS this a solid mash/sparge plan?

Batch size = 2.75 and boil size = 3.36 according to beersmith.

4.33 pounds of grain.

At this point my only option is 2 four gallon pots. My plan is to BIAB with a sparge. I plan to use 1.625 gallon for the mash (1.5 qts per pound) and sparge with 1.75 gallons to end up at roughly the planned boil volume.

Does this sound like a solid plan? I've never tried this before but my equipment is sorta limited.

Doesn't look like you are accounting for water absorbed into the grain.

EDIT: and the one time I relied on Beersmith to give me my boil volume, it undershot. I assume I'm going to lose about a gallon in a 60 minute boil.

Caveat - I've only brewed 4 batches in my life.

You're right... looks like I need to add another .54 gallon to account for absorption.

After that, does it sound good?

Based on my limited experience, yeah. What I did was to heat more sparge water than I thought I'd need. I sparged (with some but not all of my sparge water), dumped my sparge water into the boil pot and measured with a mark I put on my stir paddle to see if I had enough boil volume. I ended up sparging 3 times to get to my target boil volume. I don't think you're going to hurt anything by washing more sugar off your grain via multiple sparges. But then again, I'm a noob like you.

Sounds good, if you end up with extra wort and it's too low of a gravity just boil some water off before your first hop addition
