I activated my Wyeast packet last night because the yeast pack for my first brew barely swelled after 5 hours. This one reacted quite well, maybe TOO well. It's inflated to the max, and I'm still hours away from pitching. (still gotta run some errands)

My question is, can these packs explode? Because that would be a stinky mess!

Did it explode?

In the future if you are worried, put it in the fridge. The yeast will stop their activity. Take it out when you start your brew session and it should be back to pitching temperature when the time comes. If it's not, put it in warm water near the end.
