For anyone who cares, it appears as though the recent glowing reviews for coffee ruby are infact a different batch. My bottles are best by 2016, not the 2018 some are reporting. Damnit! Anyone wanna swap tomes? My batch 1 meh for your shelfy awesomeness? There is a BA review that makes reference to a bottle code and best before 2018 marking on a bottle that was consumed less than 3 months ago. I will have to look at my bottles and see if they have the same markings or if a new batch might have been released.
Keep your batch 1, I like it a lot more than by batch 2 ones. Though some have said batch 1 was really bitter? Which mine were not.For anyone who cares, it appears as though the recent glowing reviews for coffee ruby are infact a different batch. My bottles are best by 2016, not the 2018 some are reporting. When and where did you get your hands on Pietrain? Lucky! This weekends bottles
Pietrain Blonde - really nice after all these years, dry, lightly tart, grapefruit?
Sante18 - aside from carb picking up pretty similar to when it was released, tart double with fruit juice, lots of malt character.
Pissenlit 15' - quite good, much improved over the two prior years, much less bitter and plant heavy, more floral, still sweeter than the older batches.
Have some from a while back. Think there were 3, white label, Amber, and blonde, all are really nice, but blonde and white label more old yeast Fantome with more wild yeast character. When and where did you get your hands on Pietrain? Lucky!![]()
Etre sold both ambree and blonde 2-3 years ago. The white label with no designation I believe predates both. When and where did you get your hands on Pietrain? Lucky!![]()

I havent tasted any of them in 2 years but my reviews from back then show I preferred the ambree version over blonde. I have a white label from 2004 that I intend to open alongside my last remaining blonde and ambree bottle.
not this again...

Best by date of 2018. Never had a Fantome bottle that tastes like this one. It's sour and completely flat, almost like a lambic. A little carbonation would do wonders for this beer but it's pretty amazing as is.
Why does it bother you that much? This is actually the first time I use it for a non-lambic and it felt a little weird but I don't get why you would be irritated.Im gonna be real with you...
seeing tomes in a lambic basket irritates me more than setting my own pubes on fire. however, ive had that batch and can confirm its lambiclikeness so ill let it slide this time
also, yes i purchased almost a case of that batch after 1 sip and im anxiously waiting to see if it carbs up. it seems others are on to how amazing that one is because it evaporated from etre quicker than any previous surlie batch in recent memory

I have 3 more bottles of this batch, seems I lucked out because before this I've only had bottles which were very medicinal and almost undrinkable.
*Gasp* Dany wouldnt do such a thing!I like that batch codes were added to the labels but generally don't relate at all to what's inside the bottle. Think I've had 3 different Sur Lie batches all having the same date code.

Ive rolled the dice for years and have come up with my own system of marking bottles/batches.
I write on caps and the boxes i have the bottles in. I found a few that I drew stars on the caps with paint pens...the details of those are fuzzy but i think i did that because they are exceptional batches.Go on...
(I typically just mark when / where I purchased as it helps down the line when looking at the cellar).
i realize my limited experience was not favorable but i still dont get it.
Oh okay I understand. Still don't see why it would irritate you that much but they're definitely useless if you plan on drinking the yeast anyway.i just think lambic baskets are silly. the only time ive ever encountered one was in a bar. i ordered a bottle of Fantome. they brought it out in a lambic basket... stood it up, uncorked it, put it back in the basket, poured me 2 glasses and in the process of doing so the bottle slipped out the basket and knocked 1 of the glasses over.
i realize my limited experience was not favorable but i still dont get it. this is largely due to me enjoying 750ml bottles myself and I like the experience of having 1 pour free and clear of yeast and a second pour filled with yeast. in the case of Fantome, it sometimes is 2 completely different experiences inside 1 bottle. using a basket takes that gift from Dany away
Think these were 10 or 11Can any of you guys help figure out with the date on the below bottle? The guy I obtained it from thought it was from 2009-2011.
No matter the vintage, it sure is enjoyable.
