Install thermocouple into thermometer port

I'm planning to build a countertop brutus 20 this winter. If I buy this kettle (http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Bayou-Classic-8-gallon-4-piece-Brew-Kettle/8229081/product.html) could I take out the thermometer and replace it with a thermocouple?

Just trying to save myself from drilling to many holes.
