I brewed last night for the first time in a while. We've been in the middle of a move and settling in, so I was happy to get to brewing. In an effort to conserve a little water, once I chilled the wort to about 95 F, I moved it to my fermentation freezer like I usually do. Usually I get it down to temp overnight and pitch the yeast. Today my wort was frozen solid. Temp probe was in a thermowell, so I don't have an ambient temperature issue running the compressor too much. The temp probe was stuck around 73 F, which was clearly wrong. Do I just have a dead inkbird? Is there anything I can do or should I just buy a new one?

Well, that's non-ideal. Obviously if the controller thinks the temperature in the thermowell is 73°F it's going to keep the compressor running. If you remove the probe from the thermowell and warm it up does the temperature reading change or is it stuck at 73°F?

Inkbird seems like a stand-up outfit, you should contact them/him directly and see what's up...

Cheers!

The temp goes up when I remove the probe and rub it between my hands. Put it back in the thermowell and it only drops to 73.

I will reach out to inkbird. Thanks.
