I purchased a milk stout kit and wanted to make it mine and added 2 lbs of Dark LME and upped the choc specialty grains from .25 to .75 and added 1 cup of Brown sugar and 1 lb of light corn syryp. the orig gravity was 1.078 and the kit was supposed to be 1.057-1.061 OG I checked Grav when I transfered to secondary and it was at 1.030 after 1 week and I just checked the gravity after 1 week in the secondary as I was curious if it fell a bit below the 1.030 and it was the same. My question is by adding the extra fermentables should the final gravity be higher than the kits 1.020-1.024? due to adding the extras?

Even with the addtions it does sound a bit high. What yeast did you use?
Your Apparent Attenuation is 60%. Your ABV is about 6.4%
Did you just check the gravity once before racking? It sounds like it needed more time in the primary on the yeast.
Give it another week or two and see what happens.

was that a partial boil? with all that added ingredients, your OG should have been closer to 1.085-1.089. if thats truly the case, then your fg seems about right compared to what the kit expected since its around the same attenuation, but it should be a few points lower still.
did you add more yeast to account for the added gravity?

I used the nottingham that came with the kit, I checked as I racked to secondary and it was 1.030 it has not changed at all after a week, I did not add more yeast, I mean I am ok with the ABV if thats what its going to be, I would not think that another week would make a difference if it hasnt changed in a week
