I've been very happy with the Brewer's Best Irish Stout and Russian Imperial Stout kits. They also both worked great for making coffee stouts.

I looked at a few. Northern brewer would have been my choice, or my lhbs one. I made up my own from looking at the recipes in the database here and in a book. It was my 2nd homebrew, its over 11%, and will be ready in a few months. My recipe is in my thread down this forum if you want to peek at it. I added, vanilla beans, bourbon, and oak chips.
