I have recently aquired a five gallon rye whiskey barrel and am going to use in in the aging of this brew. See what you guys think of this recipe I'm working on. Going to hop burst this brew as well. Thinking of dry hopping but going to taste after done fermenting to see if necessary. Worried that I might need to dry this beer out a little bit more. Maybe some more flaked rye? Hope to have ready by the holidays to take the edge off it.

It seems like you might want a little more Rye in there if you want to get that spicy flavor over the roasted stout flavor. Also, since it is an Imperial Stout, I would add some more roasted barley. Maybe another 1/2 pound. I've made regular stouts with 1.5 lbs of roasted barley before. Maybe try 1/4 pound of smoked malt for a little extra complexity.... :)

And, maybe some Northern Brewer or Bullion hops for 60 mins in the boil and get rid of the 5 and 0 minute additions since you are going to hop burst.

Cheers!
