Ice Mountain Water Jugs = Better Bottles?

i'm bumping this ancient thread because i scored a couple of these jugs, full of water.

i have been looking for BB equivalents at those bins with the three and five gallon jugs in wal-mart, lowes, kroger, etc, but i have never found anything but #7 plastic. #7 plastic is the chop suey of plastic and not BPA free.

the new ice mountain jugs are 100% BPA free and #1 plastic. they are very sturdy and designed to be reused and as far as i can tell are a very very good substitute for better bottles. I think you can only get them from a distributor. i bought them from a guy on CL for $5 each, full of water. they are really nice. they have handles on the side, too, which makes them pretty easy to carry.

i have a wine and a mead that will each be tying up a carboy for the next six months, so i'm glad to add these to my arsenal of carboys (i'm up to 2 5-gallon glass, 1 6.5 gallon glass, 3 3-gallon glass, and now two 5-gallon plastic. geez. i need to get a life!).
