At the weekend? You crazy Scotsman.:D
I will be partaking Friday night, probably by myself. SWMBO is going out with her boyfriend.

And I made them suffer by pointing things out, like the misplaced opening scene of downtown Bedford Falls where George Bailey runs into shot! I'm insufferable to watch movies with. :D

They're the best.

God, you too. Maybe they just aged faster in the old days. At least they dressed nicely.

I think Stewart especially was in his 40s IIRC when he played the role. I think with old movies we let a lot of that slide as part of the "genre".

What always makes me mad is that Potter gets away with hiding the 8 grand. I know that's probably the point; even though he gets away with it he'll remain no less bitter for it. I guess I want the alternate ending where George Bailey deals him a roundhouse kick to the face! :rockin:

You do not kick Lionel Barrymore in the face. Ever.
No alternate ending, dammit.

I thought he pulled out a .44 Mag and asked if he felt lucky?

Now how did a thread about nugnuts get turned into a debate between round house kicks and 44 mags?!
The attention span of HBT, JEESH.

I think we should all get a prescription to ritalin along with our sticker when purchasing memberships.
Ahh Ritalin, what a great invention...Discuss.. Mwuahahaha

Are there any African-Americans here that are offended by some of the marketing by McDonalds? My wife and I saw a McDs commercial the other night and we both looked at each other and said "Who exactly are they directing that ad towards?". It just seemed blatant that it was directed at a black market. Just curious...

Can you give some examples?

Ok, I asked a friend if he knew how their commercials would offend black people and he mentioned a new commercial where they were going around to people who would dance when given nuggets. They of course were dancing in a way that appears to be specifically from the young black culture. However, I believe that behavior is now generally accepted and copied among all races of that age group. I think McDonalds is trying to attract a large customer group which happens to be young adults, not black people specifically. Now having said that I know that behavior does not represent all young black adults anymore than it does any race of that age. If anything I see it as an insult to older adults. But then again you have to ask which advertizing would make them more money. At my age I don't particularly like those commercials but that is just times changing. My generation was long hair and rock music and I am sure my parents would have liked it better if I had chosen to not be part of that but I was. McDonald’s main catch phrase these days is “I’m Lovin’ It” and there is no way in hell they are trying to get my attention with that either. I would rather die than say those words.

I recall that some years ago when the obesity and heart disease issues really hit the black communities there were complaints filed against McD's because the vast majority of its commercials were directed towards blacks and had black families in most commercials. These days I don't see that happening as often or at least not disproportional to other groups.
