So how many fingers am I holding up?

what the hell? is this a raccoon paw?

ive hit my head a few times... mtb downhilling into a tree, jumping over a wall on my bmx to find a 10 foot drop, smashing a vehicle into the mountain side and rolling 5 or 6x. i haven't ever seen "stars", only inability to comprehend my sensory inputs for a while.

Aside from a wee headache and a general "beat up" feeling, I'm fine. The "beat up" feeling comes from playing in two hockey games in one day, though, not the bump on the head. A couple of motrin fixed me right up, and I'm working today.

I'm also having a plumber over early this morning to look at where I'm adding a utility sink to my new BREWERY! Indoors, first floor, electric brewery.

Hockey, beer, and play off football yesterday. Brewery today. Brewing on my "old" rig one last time tomorrow.

Life is good. Headache, or no!

It was probably that PaultheNurse dude from back east in disguise. ;)

Great! Now you have invoked PTN... what have you done! Last thing Yoop needs is the bikini jokes from CB in her slightly fragile mental condition! :D

Course, Paul is a nurse Yoop... we could pitch in to fly him out and tend to you! :mug:

I hope you feel better.

Don't threaten me! :D

Actually, that would be great! We have another game Wednesday night. Paul could dress like a girl and finally play hockey like he's been crying to do for months.

And, after we kick his ass, I could tend to HIM!

The only time I hit my head really hard was when I was in the Navy. Concussions aren't allowed on watch.

Only time I really whacked my head was doing laundry! BadAss story huh! Our main drain (~4" diameter cast iron pipes) is about face level. I Bbnt over to pick up a load of clothes, raised back up full speed ahead and **WHACK**. Only time I've ever went black, stumbled, couldn't catch myself and fell into the laundry room wall and the down to my knees before I realized what was going on. Shook it off and was fine. Hope your case is the same:D

and you.....talking??? what???

I got blind sided on punt return team one time in high school, didn't knock me out but I heard bells and saw stars for a few seconds couldn't really determine what side of the field was our sideline. Missed one series and back at it, probably not the smartest thing but who's very smart in high school anyway.

We have one of those door locks you often see at hotels on our solid front door. So on the door is a bracket with a metal ball. One day I was trying to kill a giant spider and it was about to when it went underneath the door. I grabbed the door and very hard swung it open and that ball hit me right in the head. Hurt so bad. Thought I cracked my skull.

Glad to hear you're feeling better.

Tempts Fate: I've had my skull knocked around a few times, by various things, but I haven't had a concussion so far.

The first concussion I ever had was in grade school. It was a vicious game of Red Rover. Even though I did a full on rush on the opposing side, their hand lock was too great. Yea I got knocked down in the dirt and remember seeing the funny stars.

I got one in a high school football game. The tackle on the other side of the line (I played Guard) was giving our back field hell (the guy was 6'3 250 plus and all state) So the Coach asks me can you trap block him. I said no prob let me at him. (ahh to be 17 and bullet proof again.) He read the trap perfectly and I had nowhere else to go. We hit so hard I saw a flash of light, and fell back. When I got up i could not see out of my right eye, but back to the huddle i went. The QB says are you ok and I said just call the play to the other side. My sight came back after the next play so I stayed in and finished the game. The next day I walk in the field house and I could hear the coaches laughing. When I came in the office the head coach says 'i just called your house and they said you were ok and on the way here. You have gotta see the hit you put on that big kid. It was like an unstopable force running into an imovable object." They were looking at the game film and laughing at how we had hit so hard and both staggered away like we were drunk.

congrats on your first concussion...now be careful for the next few days and look for those post-concussion symptoms before you do anything potentially dangerous.

Like play hockey again tomorrow night? ;)

I sat out two shifts, before I went back in the game. The one thing I noticed was that I got very tired, very fast. We only have four defensemen (sometimes down to three), so we often skate pretty long shifts. I couldn't after the bump on my head. I'd feel ok, but then just take one run and maybe a shot on goal, and I went back out. I got one assist, near the end of the game. They were in the middle of a line change, and I got a good run from behind our own net into the zone and a shot on goal. One of my teammates got the rebound, and it went in. I had to go immediately to the bench and sit after that.

I have just a tiny headache today, and a bit of a stiff neck from the impact, but I'm fine. I'm brewing today!

I play rugby. Next question, please. :D

me to. was there a question?

head injuries are serious business. I know a guy that was involved in a snowmobile accident. he was following his buddy, and his buddy went head-on into an oncoming sled. He crashed as well, bumped his head. his buddy was messed up, so they called flight 4 life. He rode along with his buddy, and suddenly passed out in the helicopter. he died, his buddy lived.

bumping your head, you could be just fine one minute, and dead the next. it's best to get it checked.

True. My uncle fell off a ladder hanging Christmas lights. He said he "bumped his head a little", and within 48hrs he died.
