An easy way to post pictures with the new forum software is to simply drag the file from your desktop and drop it in the post field. Then it will ask if you want to post a thumbnail or a full size of the picture.

You don't see a picture at all? I usually post from my phone so that seems to complicate things a bit. Probably more so as my phone is a little dated. Things seem to change hourly with the upgrade going on. I'm sure I set my media to public. I'll check.

Hope you all have a beer in hand. Happy Thanksgiving.

The pictures have an icon with a "x" through it, but its probably due to getting the mobile app straightened out with the software.

Not quite sure how I️ found the path back (the look). But glad you all did and caught up

Happy days to you all. This sight we enjoy as HBT changes, we do too in tech. But beyond that we’re still brothers and sisters getting through this life. Celebrating the good times and sharing the bad and everything in between

Cheers friends!

Truly

Hope had a wonderful Thanksgiving my brother! I️ hope everybody did.

Arguing with my wife, she’s arguing with me[emoji7]about Christmas lights. Oh brother!

Cheers to all!

Hey all. It's been a while since I did the shameless dad brag and posted one of my daughter's songs. She wrote this one when she was getting ready to go off to school.
Spanish Fort, AL is 1184 miles from NYU...

I️ don’t remember exactly how many years ago thumbs up were anonymous. Then thumbs up became likes and the person who liked the post was named (except on phone apps) Now thumbs up are back that show up as likes with a name attached even on the phone apps. And this app is more picture friendly.

Changes are usually a pain in the butt. This new HBT App. I️ like I️t; it’s pretty sweet and knowing this site’s authors; I️ don’t know them personally but seeing this site grow under Tex’s watch. I️t keeps getting better, and better.

Thank you to all you techno guys and girls that make this a kick butt site and to all the mods and people working out of love for this home. Mahalo to you all!

To all who contribute and confide here, who make this place so interesting and beneficial to brewing and to life. Mahalo brothas and sistas

Cheers

Dan

Joan Jett is such an underappreciated rocker. She's raw, like AC/DC. I always liked her. Thanks Dan!

Good evening late niters. Hope all is well. Been a while since I hung around here... hope it's alright for me to butt in.

Many of the regulars from this thread are no longer here, but some are (I see you guys right up there - howdy!).

Forum has changed quite a bit, but under the skin it's still the same. Kinda like getting a new set of duds at the mall - put those fancy clothes on, but you are still the same guy really.

For your late nite soundtrack, Tony Orlando and Dawn. When music was simple, soulful and meaningful. Not much of that anymore, except for CGVT's Caroline and such.

I️ have to sleep now.

No, not sleeping yet. First couple words were nostalgia stuff. Me maybe being a bit selfish.

I️ was just wondering about household circuit beaker remove and replace procedures at the service box ?

I’ve seen People just remove the cover off a service box. Snap out the cb and pop a new one in; all hot, power on

That procedure scares the **** out of me. You got an open face house amperage circuit staring you in the face (after you remove the cover panel without touching a line and getting electrocuted

Hey Dan. I think you know I'm an electrical contractor. It's a family business so I've been around it my whole life.

We work in hot panels far more often than dead ones. Usually shutting them down is not even an option. There are guards on breakers and terminals that protect somewhat from touching places you shouldn't. If you know your way around a panel and pay attention to what you're doing, it can be done safely.

I actually don't remember ever getting shocked in a panel (plenty of shocks in junction boxes and outlets). I did have a small arc flash in a panel one time. I blame the jerk that originally wired it for that though. The panel was a complete mess and I had to move some wires around to make room for the ones we were adding. As soon as I did, a wire pinched and shorted against the panel and went off like a welding arc in my face. My reaction had me flat on the floor. And I never even got shocked. Just a lot of black soot on one hand.

The voltage in a panel is the same you'll find in the outlets around your house so a shock would be the same. The real risk is arc flash because of the high current conductors. Search YouTube if you want nightmares;)

Be safe. I don't recommend that anyone works in a hot panel.

I've added and moved breakers in my box, but I always switch the main off first. In a home, no reason not to. Just don't drop your screwdriver across the lines coming into the main switch :)

Working in a hot box isn't a challenge I want. I'm way too clumsy.

This year the Dirty Santa gifts have to be handmade. I've been wanting to make these stars for about a year. So I finally put together my good miter (last years Christmas gift) and made a few.

I've been in the woodshop all weekend. I cut out the panels to make footlockers for the boys last year too. I am almost done putting those together now. Just painting and a clear coat left. I'll get a picture of those up soon.

I️ hear that Pappy you hit the nail on the head for me with clumsy. I️ can barely paint without paint on my clothes while other people do the same job and remain pait free.

I️ admire guys like Ischiavo. I’ve seen electrics guys get their fingers so close to hot wires but their acute natural or learned awareness of the surroundings always seems to keep them safe.

Hey brother Ischiavo!

Great to hear from you. Of course I️ remember you’re an electrical contractor. I️ remember early on in this forum asking you. I️ said something about electricians being a pretty great breed...or something like that and I️ wasn’t surmised you are one[emoji4]

I️ probably won’t ever ( in the near future) do live work. I️ kind of got spoiled working aircraft electrical systems where there was no way to d electrical work ona hot stem. Brewer panels were boted into the aircraft and sealed from the back. You had to remove the wire harnesses via a cannon plug, pull the panel and open I️t up then unscrew the terminal lugs and nut holding the circuit breaker in. Only could be done with aircraft in s no power status. External or internal. More work than house panels in the pia aspect to change a breaker but zero chance of making a shocking mistake[emoji3]

Cheers my brother!hpe you and you family have a great Christmas and new year!

Everybody here as well

Cheers
Dan

Looks great !pretty darn roomy. The note from Dad will make these historic.! The do not enter sign is a fun touch. Very cool Ischiavo!

Yes. Footlockers. I thought YOU might appreciate them. I spray painted their name and serial number, radioactive and biohazard symbols, army star on them. That was the only pic I had without their names. I figured maybe I shouldn't post that.

They’re perfect brother. Pretty sure no other kid in their school will get anything as near and dear. Video games and all that come go and are replaced regularly with the newest thing. The foot lockers you MADE for your kids are irreplaceable!

Flu has been going around

My Cold Killer Savior Soup

You’ll see as you read this I’m no pro chef. So please don’t judge me as one

Raw chicken bone, skin on

A lot A lot! of fresh garlic

Vegetables of your choice. I like mostly underground ones

Some sort of pasta for carbs. Spaghetti broken into 1-2” pieces works well for me. You might think of something different you like better. Perfect!

Cheat and use good chicken stock and maybe even chicken bouillon if you’re not bothered much by MSG.

People like different texture and sizes of veggies, is garlic a vegetable? Cut, chop, mince to your liking

I boil the chicken in stock with whole carrot and onion quartered for about half an hour then turn off the heat and let sit another half hour. Then I dump the pot into a bowl through a fine strainer and save the liquid and chicken

I then put the liquid back in the pot and remove the chicken from the bone, fairly large chunks. Throw the cut chicken back with the liquid

I bring all back to a boil while throwing a ton of mixed garlic in, fresh 1/4 inch sliced carrot, minced onions and whatever else veggie sounds good. Cook till it smells and feels right.

Then I check the liquid level and add pasta, spaghetti or angel hair works for me but I break it up in 1-2”pieces. That’s just me. Use whatever pasta you like or have on hand. Or leave it out if you don’t want pasta. I’ve used rice, I’ve used potatoes. For this cold cure soup it’s important it gives energy, fuel. Carbs are necessary

Get the pasta cooked. Season as you like

The creme de la creme in this cold killer soup, aside from chicken stock, vegetables and pasta?
Some sort of spicy hot. Seracha, tobascco, whatever you like to use for hot...put some in

Between the chicken soup, protein from the chicken, vitamins from the veggies and healing quality of garlic and energy from the carbs you’ll get healthy and anilate your cold. The spicy will clear your head, warm your body and make your soul happy [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Cheers!
