i just cracked open the first bottle of my first AG brew...

And I was immediately reminded why I take the time to do this myself. Even though its only a month old (IIPA, ~7%ABV, 100IBU) and could definitely hang out in bottles for another month or two before getting touched again, its still absolutely delicious.

The last line in your post tells it all. You know you have a special one when you want another right away. Right now I have a similar beer in my glass. It's only an IPA, not a IIPA, but it has the magic! When you can brew these consistently, you have arrived. It took me almost ten years to get here.
