Hey all,
I have made the best scotch ale i have ever had! I am a huge McEwans fan and i wanted to clone it. Well its not exactly a Mc, its a bit dryer and a little hoppier, i think its way better! I only made 5 gal but wish i had done 20gal (unfortunately noy equipped).
I'd like to sent a shot out to Revvy. You always answer my questions, no matter how stupid or noobish. You and some of the other "old timers"(your my ageby the way-i think) are really furthering this craft with the service you guys provide on here. Anyway, thanks Bro! PM me an address and i'll mail you one of these, i'd love an opinion.

I'm not trying to piss on Revvy's parade here. He does a good job and all, but you really need to congratulate yourself more on good method, sanitisation etc......Good guidance is great, and Revy does well at that, but he would be the first to agree with me that you did it yourself mate. It was all you. You did good, so praise yourself! :)

Dudes, I'm not sayin the guy made the brew for me, just that i had a question durin brew day and he helped me out. Besides, he's got an awesome avatar(you gotta admit that) Just wanted to thak him. And if that offends anyone you can kiss my hillbillly ass!

Aw shucks!!! I'm, really glad I could help in any small way to see you so excited about your beer. That's why I do it.

It's pretty cool ain't it? :D When we take a drink of our own, and it is awesome!

Although you did the work...I'll not turn you down on your offer!

Congrats on a sucessful brew! But, I hate to tell you that it only feeds the obsession. Next thing you know, you'll be trying to perfect even perfection.

I agree that the long time brewers on this site are awesome. Any question I have I can ask and get great answers almost instantly. This site has been a major help to me.

Regarding the fact that your scotch ale came out better, I have a similar story: Before I started homebrewing I drank several different kinds of beer. You could go into my fridge and see 5 or 6 different styles. What I drank each time just depended on how I felt that day. When I started brewing I thought I could copy those things I liked and still have the same beer, just homemade. Well I have now brewed a few batches and what I think I have learned is that there are not many true clones when homebrewing and really, I guess, that's the point. I am making beer I can't get anywhere else. Case in point is a batch of brown ale I recently made. My comparison was Newcastle but when mine was done it was different. Mine is a bit stronger (in a good way) and much richer than Newcastle. I like mine better, a lot better, and there is only one way to get it; brew it!

Its amazing how when I started brewing, I was trying to match my fav beers. Now I find, (when I occasionally buy a commercial brew), that I enjoy the stuff I make more. I don't even like some beers I used to like before I started homebrewing!!!!! Kudos!!!
