My brews ferment, I usually get plenty close to the correct FG, but I haven't seen any of that Kraussen yet. Is this at all normal?
 
All brews ferment differently. The kraussen usually only forms for a few days on mine. What type of yeast are you using?
 
Plastic or glass fermenter?

That was my question. If you are fermenting in plastic chances are the krausen has already fallen by the time you pop the top, all the crud around the side is what got left behind. If you are fermenting in glass with an ale yeast you should be seeing something, maybe not as much as some of the pics show, but at least a little foam (I've had krausen only be 1/2 inch deep).
