Hey everyone. I'm brand new to the hobby and have brewed my first extract beer about 3 weeks ago. It's been bottled and am waiting for another week to try it out. Can't wait!

Was fortunate enough to meet Bill (homebrewer_99) and Al (notbob) down at our LHBS in Birmingham last week. Great guys, I might add...although I had no idea what they were talking about. Waaaaay over my head. I have alot to learn, but love it so far!

Anyway, great site you have here.

Hey there Dave, and welcome to the forum. I've only been on the forum for maybe a month and you can't imaging how much I've picked up and how fast you get responses to your questions here. Everyone is very polite as well. That's cool you have met other HBT members in real life before the forum. Enjoy and happy homebrewing!

Howdy, Dave. Bill here.

Where were you when me and Al went drinking at the Fox and Hound last Tues night ($2.00 pint night)?:drunk: He had a couple of his drinking buddies with him there. Me and Billy Bob had a great time trading jokes, etc.

I'm glad you came over to the HBT forum. Welcome!:D

Hey Bill! Good to see you again. Tues night I was somewhere driving my big Truck. I only get home on weekends. Hopefully after June or july I can get off the road and find a local job somewhere. Our house will be paid off then and I can spend more time making BEER, YES!

Rub it in. I want to pay off my house also.

We just bought our house less than 2 years ago. I put $75K down and still have enough $$ (about $50K) to pay it off, but I don't have any deductions except loan interest. Income from my other accounts make me still pay taxes.

I retire in about 3.5 years. I really don't want to pay all that interest since I have the $$$ to pay it off. I could replace the loss to my savings account with my income.
