Hey guys,

i'm having trouble force carbonating. So i figured i'd try natural carbination and then using the CO2 to push out the beer. But my beers been sitting for a while now. And i do once a week let out the CO2 thats been building up out so it wont Explode. Is this they way to do it or should i just let it go. The beer hasn't carbinated at all...

And help would be greatful.

If you keep releasing the pressure, your ale will never carbonate. The pressure is what forces the CO2 into the ale (or in the case of natural carbonation the pressure keeps the CO2 in the ale). Typical carbonation pressures are between 15-35 psi, a cornie will vent at about 130 psi. It won't explode.
 
If you're having trouble force carbonating, you'll have even more trouble with 'natural' carbonation.

What trouble did you have with force carbonation?
 
i could use this advice as well.. we are trying to force carbonating our beer.

we chilled it down to 40 degrees then added 25-30 psi .. shook it til it stopped... then returned it to the fridge for 2 hours or more .. we released the pressure then checked and NO carbonation as well..

we have added another 30 psi and shook it til it stopped releasing pressure and have returned it to the fridge. We cut the co2 off ...

now heres my question?

do we release any pressure..or do we just hook the co2 back up .. set it at the dispensing pressure and just pull of some until we get the desired consistency without so much head?

sorry to tag along on your thread but figured we were having the same problems..
 
Bleed the pressure relase valve and pour a beer, if its carbonated then just set your reg. down to 2-4 to get a nice steady flow of beer. If I'm having some people over ill just leave the regulator set at 3 for the night so it pours nice, no foam. Then if I dont drink too much homebrew and actually remember I put the pressure back up to 12 so the beer doesnt become flat. Cheers.
 
The 30 psi and shake routine is only far situation when you want a carbonated beer NOW! and can't afford to wait a few days.

The conventional way of force carbonating is to set the regulator to about 12 psi and sit back and wait a few days. Physics and nature will take it's course and the beer will have time to settle too.

30psi and shake always reminds me of the old joke about an alien watching a human couple have sex. After they were finished, he said 'if it takes nine months to make a baby, what was the big rush for right at the end?' :ban:
