How to Remove Old Freezer Hinges

How do I safely remove these hinges? I am guessing I cannot just saw the hinge.
Do I need to take the lid apart?

Was that older thread helpful you posted in? It sounds like you can just loosen those bolts and the lid would come off. One person mentioned taking apart the top there.
