well, i decided to experiment with this batch a bit....i was looking at the yeast cake from my (trying salvage beer, which was a very light stout....no pun intended, lol)

and i wondered what a little roast barley flavor would be like in a cider, so on went the reason for this post!

412.5+10=422.5

Are people really keeping track? I'm new at this, and this is what I have going so far:
4 gallons with purchased Louisburg cider, with SafCider and Premium Ciderhouse yeast, started July 30
3 gallons from my own apples (Enterprise, Liberty & Jonafree), with SafCider yeast, started Aug 15
11 gallons from my own apples (same as above, plus Dolgo crabs), with Red Star Cuvée and Red Star Côte des Blanc, started August 23
7 gallons from my own apples (same as above), with Belle Saison yeast, started August 31

So...25 gallons altogether so far. I figure on one more pressing. I sure hope at least some of this is decent.

24 gallons, apples from our mini-orchard, last Sunday. It should nicely complement the 24 gals. of melomels I did in Feb. But now I need a couple more cases of 750s :D

16 from a local orchard, added some acid to make it more similar to last year's quality. Tried 2 different white wine yeasts (ec-1118/red star) to see differences. Only added 1/2 of the sulfite I did to start out last year, which will give me some more room at the end to play around without risk. Plan is for most of these bottles to age for 6 months, but one five gallon batch to go for 18 to see what changes flavor wise.

6 of Simply Apple brought down to 3.2 ph to make it more tart and prepare it for a demi-sec finish. No sulfite to start as this juice is pasteurized. The sugar content is pretty low and I may add some more to boost the SG + alcohol content.

I started 6 today. That brings it up to 22 for the year.

705 + 3 (Kees) + 22 = 730 gal.

I still have 5 gal. in a keg and 5 gal. in a carboy from 2019.
