How many bottles?

I have a 5 gallon batch of mead that i want to put into wine bottles. how many bottles do I need? I plan on using standard size bottles (750 ml). Just looking for a rough estimate. I'd rather have a few extra bottles than not enough. Thanks for the help.

Almost always, you get 5 bottles per gallon. So, for a 5 gallon batch you can plan on 25 bottles, for 6 gallons, you should get 30.

I usually end up with about 25-750ml bottles, and 1 - 350 ml

5 gallons is slightly over 25 (fifth) bottles, so assuming you have 5 full gallons, you'll get 25 bottles, plus some extra. I usually just put the extra in a big mason jar for, uh, on the spot "quality control" purposes.

There's a cool free iPhone app called bottle calc, you can select whatever size bottles you want and volume and it will calculate number of bottles needed, even in mixed sizes!

I usually bottle into 12 oz bottles. For me 5 gal is about 2 cases or 8 six packs.
