I'm making my first attempt at harvesting commercial yeast out of a few bottles of Bells Oberon. Please review my process and let me know if you see any issues. Thanks!
1. Sanitize Oberon tops and open and pour all but bottom .5 inch into glass. Recap bottles with sanitized caps until I have 6-12 of these .5 inch beers.
2. Prepare a .5 liter starter using extra light malt extract at a ratio of 50 grams DME to 500ml water. I will also put half a cap of servomyces in when boiling.
3. Ferment on stir plate for 24 hours. Cold crash and decant off wort.
4. repeat step 2 but with 1000ml water and 100grams DME. Once again use a half cap of servomyces.
5. Continue in two more steps till i have a 2 L starter.
I also have the option of aerating with pure oxygen but i think the stir plate should be sufficient?
