How do you back sweeten

Am new to cider making and just made 2 batches of apfelwein and wanted to back sweeten on of the batches. I was wondering how I go about doing so.

Two primary ways:

- Boil up some lactose with water and add it after cooling
- Add Wine Conditioner

BTW, my wife prefers to mix apfelwein with ginger ale or sprite, rather than backsweetening. That way, she can enjoy it dry when she wants to, or sweeten it up when she wants it. However, I keep it on tap, rather than bottling.
