For the two weeks I spend on a Bahamas "out island" every year I totally become The Rum King, because 750ml of good quality rum costs only $12 while Kalik, Sands, and Guinness Export (all by contractors in Nassau, fwiw) can run over $3 a bottle at retail.

Don't need to be a Mensa math genius to figure out the cost per buzz heavily favors da rum bubba! :D

Cheers!

Gotta love that local sugar cane rum!

Absolutely go as local as possible when in the Caribbean. One can get Bacardi anywhere in the world but trust me it's not a great rum.

This is the Callwood Distillery on Tortola in the BVI - taken in 2016 (pre-Irma, which totally creamed the island, but amazingly spared the distillery). Callwood was founded in the 17th century and has been in operation ever since, making it one of the oldest in the entire Caribbean.

We grabbed a fifth of each of their four products and had comparos every night for almost two weeks :)

Cheers!

Yep, I saw it. Excited to stop sailing with The Captain for a bit. Thanks! Total Wine here I come!!!

If you're branching out, and it's there, Pilar does a few limited runs for Total Wine. Not impossible to find other places, too. Their Blonde is very good. Something to keep on the top shelf, as it's a bit spendy, but very well worth it. Definitely not RumNCoke material, as it'd be a waste.

Now I'm off to the local Purveyor of Fine Intoxicants...
