How bad is it if all the hot break and cold break end up in the fermentor, provided you rack to a carboy or better bottle after 2-3 weeks for the beer to clear? Wont all the proteins settle out, so there is no harm?
What one experienced brewer suggested is transfer the wort from the kettle to a bucket, let it sit 15 minutes, then rack that into the primary fermentor, leaving behind the break on the bottom. I'd rather not do that, unless it's necessary.

I dump everything into the fermenter and don't secondary and still get clear beer. It just takes time for everything to settle, be it in secondary or primary. It will be fine.
