Hi,

I am trying to put together a recipe for an American IPA, but as I am a newbie to putting together so I don't have the best idea of how hops work together in a recipe. I am shooting for an OG of 1.065 or so, and I have on hand 1lb each of Columbus, Cascade, Fuggles, and Goldings. I really like Great Lakes commodore perry, so I know fuggles and cascades would do well in there, but what else and when?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Here's the hop schedule for a 2 time GABF Gold award winning recipe, Firestone Walker Union Jack

25g Warrior 7%AA at 90m
18g Cascade 7%AA at 30m
18g Centennial 10.5%AA at 30m
52g Cascade at 0m
52g Centennial at 0m
44g Centennial dry hop dose 1
44g Cascade dry hop dose 1

30g Cascade dry hop dose 2
30g Centennial dry hop dose 2
14g Amarillo dry hop dose 2
14g Simcoe dry hop dose 2

I would use your Columbus in place of the Warrior for the 90 min bittering addition.
Then if you wanted to use Cascade and Fuggles, you could just use the Cascade as shown in this
recipe, and the Fuggles in place of the Centennial additions.
For the Amarillo and Simcoe, I'd just use more Cascade and Fuggles.

Just a couple other notes, you could always reduce the 90 minute addition to 60 minutes
if you wanted, and since
your Columbus is a higher AA% then the Warrior in this recipe you should probably reduce that addition to something like 14 grams to keep the IBU's from that addition the same.
