I am planning my first recipe. I haven't seen many hoppy wheat recipes on here so I though I would post it. I am currently fermenting the Jawbreaker Pale Wheat from Midwest Supplies. I used US-04. After I keg I will use the yeast for this brew.

Method: All Grain
Style: American Wheat or Rye Beer
Boil Time: 60 min
Batch Size: 5 gallons (fermentor volume)
Boil Size: 6 gallons
Boil Gravity: 1.042 (recipe based estimate)
Efficiency: 70% (brew house)
OG 1.051
FG 1.012

Fermentables
Amount Fermentable PPG °L Bill %
5 lb American - Pale 2-Row 37 1.8 52.6%
4 lb American - White Wheat 40 2.8 42.1%
0.5 lbAmerican - Caramel / Crystal 20L 35 20 5.3%
9.5 lbTotal

Hops
Amount Variety Type AA Use Time IBU

0.5 oz Amarillo Pellet 8.6 Boil 2 min 1.48
1 oz Amarillo. Pellet 8.6 Dry Hop 10 days
0.5 oz Cascade Pellet 7 Dry Hop 10 days

Mash Guidelines
Amount Description Type Temp Time
16 qt Sparge 152 F 60 min
Starting Mash Thickness: 2 qt/lb
Fly Sparge

Will ferment around 14 days and then keg and dry hop in the keg. May use Irish moss. May cold crash. We will see....

That looks a bit like the hoppy wheat that I've done a couple times. Love the Amarillo and Cascade in a wheat APA. Great choice. I like to counter-balance mine with a little Chinook and/or Centennial, but your mileage may vary.

Do you have a yeast you plan on using yet?

Thanks for the feedback. I was a little unclear about the yeast. I am going to re use the yeast from the hoppy wheat kit I brewed recently. As for the hops I was curious if I should use a different hop for bittering or other flavors since cascade and Amarillo are pretty similar. I don't want the ibus getting any higher though.

You could probably back off your 60 min addition a bit, and use the IBUs you save for a couple 15- and 2-min adds of another hop like Centennial. I might even double up the Cascade and Amarillo in the 15-min add, as well. But I tend toward over complicating this sort of thing.

Re-using the yeast ought to work pretty well. Good luck with this one!
