Hey everyone,

I brewed up a recent apa extract kit, put it in the primary on the 28th. There's a little hop matter and foam on the top but I'm seeing a lot of hop matter in suspension in the top 2-3 inches of the primary (I use a coopers fermenter).

I overshot the water and it's at 25L (supposed to be 23), I usually let batches sit around 3 weeks in the primary. Question is, is this normal? Should I give it a gentle swirl to knock out some of the crap? Or will this fall out over the next week and a bit?

Thanks

I had a similar situation a couple batches ago with a pale ale.

The hop matter just wouldn't drop. I even gave it a gentle swirl and they were determined to stay floating even after 3 weeks in the fermenter.

Ended up rubber banding a hop bag (thoroughly sanitized) to the bottom of my auto siphon, and racked to the keg.

Seemed to work fine, and nothing ended up in the final product.
