Has anyone else noticed that when you're brewing you have a lot of energy untill you add the hops? I always brew late into the night, and it seems like as soon as I get the hops in there and the aroma spreads all through the house I want to lie down and sleep. I start yawning and the whole deal. I always push through, but man, those hops make me sleepy.

HB, you changed your signature! Mmmmm...

Are you saying you have over 4000 bottles of everything you've bottled? Maybe I'm a drunken baffoon, but I don't understand that system.

the leading digit is the year and the following 3 are the batch number ie 2005 batch 13 would be 5013

AHammer16 hit it right on the button. Good observation.

The numbers on the end are how many bottles I have remaining from that batch. Notice some batch numbers are missing....? All gone!!

I thought the large number was a bit optimistic just knowing I would NEVER be able to brew 1000 batches in a year, but I've been using the Julian Calendar for 30+ years (same 4 characters) and it just seemed logical at the time.

Moving down to 3 digits (501, 502) would just confuse the (known) numbering system I already use a lot.:D

Of course, if I did have 4000 bottles I'd be a real "JERKWAD" if I hadn't sponsored a New Years Eve party, huh?
