Tasting Notes
Hop forward, wheaty beer.
A lawnmower beer for the masses!

I have a few of these in me as i type this so forgive me if i forget something.

10 - gallon batch (go ahead and 1/2 everything)
Figured for 60% efficiency.

Grains
10-lbs Marris Otter malt
10-lbs Breiss white wheat malt
.5-lbs honey malt
.25-lbs Munich malt
.125-lbs Vienna malt

Hops
4-OZ Amarillo all @ Flame out
(no chill method for better hop utilization)

Mash
150-F for 60 minutes ( 8 gallons water )
150-F sparge for an additional 20-30 minutes ( 8 more gallons water )

The Lawnmower Beer
"Honey, MOWit"

Not that anyone particularly gives a sh@t,
I have tweeked/modified this recipe a little bit for the better.
Cant edit the OP so i'll put changes here.
Scaled down to a 5-gallon batch.

Grains
5-lbs Marris Otter malt
5-lbs Breiss white wheat malt
1-lbs honey malt

Hops
1/2-OZ Amarillo @ 60 minutes FWH (throw them in before it gets boiling)
1+1/2-OZ Amarillo @ Flame out

OTHER
Ground Corriander in boil @ 60 minute mark (half a "McCoormicks" bottle of it)
1 whole orange and 1 whole grapefruit also @ 60 minute mark.
Wash/sanitize these and then freeze them for a few days prior to the boil.
Pull them straight from the freezer to the boil kettle.

MASH
stays the same

When it comes to brewing i find again and again that simpler is better.
By removing the Munich and Vienna malt it lets the honey malt shine through SO much better.

Last batch of this got down to 1.006 and was 7.3%ABV
I just wished that i had made more of it.:tank:

Did you just throw the grapefruit and orange in whole or where the cut?

I tend to be lazy (that's a severe understatement)
and figured it would be easier to clean them up from the boil if left whole.
I was right.
Allthough, i would see no harm in cutting them up.
Possibly get a very slightly higher gravity reading from the juices.

This beer got very good reviews at the brew club i go to.
We set a sheet of paper underneath the bottle/growler of each brew on a long table and people can anonymously write what they think of it, good or bad. I think somebody said it was similar/reminded them of J.D.-Honey Brown. I'd love to make another batch of this but i'm out of Amarillo hops.
:(
