Wooot, checked the gravity on my Irish Red Ale tonight, spot on 1.012 from an OG 0f 1.053. Racked to secondary and tasted the test sample, tasted like beer, flat of course, a bit sweet, great hops aroma and the color is fantastic, dark amber with a hint of red. I'm stoked.

Welcome to the miracle of homebrewing! As I just said in another post somewhere else, the thing that surprised me the most, I think, about my first batch was that I had actually made beer at all! It's wonderful, isn't it? I remember siphoning it into the bottling bucket and being struck by the fact that the whole kitchen smelled like flat beer. But that was the thing-- it was BEER.

Let us know how it turns out when it's ready to drink.

Congrats!! Now the hard part begins, waiting for your beer to be ready to drink!
