Sorry I am late for the dog stuff, but wanted to share this.
Feel bad for both dog owners, these situations are hard.
Meet Tanner,
Tanner is now 14, he is a lab sharpei mix. I rescued him when he was only 6 months. I had many plans of taking him to brew pubs and restaurants etc.. he was my buddy, still is. There is something about tanners face that makes other dogs want to bite it. He has been attacked about 8 times in the last 14 years. Those are just the attacks that actually hurt tanner. I have prevented more than I can count on all my fingers and toes. Some were major and some were just flesh wounds. I am extremely hypervigilant when other dogs come around. Many many many times owners say I want to let them meet each other, I have said no my dog is not mean and has never attacked another dog but your dog will probably attack Tanner. The owner almost always says things like, not my dog he or she loves dogs and would never attack, they are never violent etc... most of the time they respect my wishes. But over 14 years of being a dog owner and socializing unfortunatly **** happens, and I have always been right. I cannot think of a single time I had Tanner with another dog (other than our 2nd dog) that didn't end with him getting attacked or me preventing an attack in the last 14 years.
Parents had a little fluffy dog, never attacked any animal, he was like 16 when I got tanner. We introduced them and immediate started attacking and chewing on tanners face. The dog had no teeth and tanner was like wtf get it off me.
He got bit in the eye, attacked by our other dog many times as a puppy until she got bored of attacking Tanner. Attacked by my sisters dog, attacked by my brothers dog, neighbors dogs, random loose or strays that come out of nowhere while I am walking him. Double teamed by 2 German shepherds, this one was pretty bad.
To this day I look out the windows make sure there are no dogs out before I take him out to go to the bathroom.
I have many insane story's of my life with Tanner, I literally could write a book. Marley was an angel compared to what he put us through. I will leave those for the dog threads, but just a teaser. Jumped out of my t-tops in an MR2 while driving about 20mph, jumped out of another car with window cracked about 5 inches. Rolled the window down him self another time and jumped out whole driving. And ultimately did about 30k in damages to our 3 homes, cars, and things. I fully understand why he was given away at only months, but I accepted the challenge and will never give up, he is my buddy and I love him, I couldn't image the last 14 years without him. Maybe we will get a few more years out of him too. Hopefully less expensive years.
TLDR: Had great plans for me and Tanner, had to change them all and not take him anywhere with me, and also have be very careful when doing anything with him in public places. Dogs can't be fully trusted.
OK back to HF stuff and things. Didn't re read and typed from phone, sorry for grammatical errors.
